HGH Fragment 176-191 dosage and protocol
HGH Fragment 176-191 is a modified form of amino acids 176-191 of human growth hormone. Research focuses on its metabolic effects without affecting blood sugar or growth.
- Vial size: 5 mg
- Reconstitution: 2 mL bacteriostatic water
- Concentration: 2.5 mg/mL
- Administration: subcutaneous
Research areas
- Fat Metabolism
- Weight Research
- Metabolic Studies
Quick start
- Reconstitute: Add 2 mL bacteriostatic water to the 5 mg vial → 2.5 mg/mL
- Typical dose: 250-500 mcg once daily in the morning, fasted
- Easy measuring: At 2.5 mg/mL, 1 unit = 0.01 mL = 25 mcg on a U-100 syringe, so 250 mcg = 10 units and 500 mcg = 20 units
- Storage: Lyophilized at -20°C; refrigerate at 2-8°C after mixing and use within 30 days
Dosing protocol
| Phase | Dose | Frequency | Volume |
|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | 250-500 mcg | Daily (morning) | 0.10-0.20 mL |
How it works
HGH Fragment 176-191 corresponds to the C-terminal end of human growth hormone, usually with an added tyrosine for stability. The idea behind it is that this region carries much of GH's fat-mobilizing activity without GH's effects on growth or insulin. It does not meaningfully activate the growth hormone receptor in the way full GH does and does not raise IGF-1, so its proposed mechanism is a separate effect on fat cells: increasing lipolysis (fat breakdown) and reducing lipogenesis (fat storage), possibly involving beta-3 adrenergic signaling. In obese rodents, the fragment reduced body fat and weight gain without affecting blood glucose or insulin sensitivity, which is the basis for the claim that it spares blood sugar. A closely related analog, AOD-9604, was taken into human clinical development for obesity. Early trials suggested it was well tolerated, but a larger phase 2b trial did not show meaningful weight loss compared with placebo, and development for obesity was stopped. Human evidence for the fragment itself is therefore limited and largely negative for weight loss. It is not an approved medicine, and claims beyond modest fat-metabolism effects in animals are not well supported.
Reconstitution steps
- Draw 2.0 mL bacteriostatic water with a sterile syringe
- Inject slowly down the vial wall; avoid foaming
- Gently swirl/roll until dissolved (do not shake)
- Label with reconstitution date and refrigerate at 2–8°C, protected from light; use within 30 days
Storage
Store lyophilized at −20°C (−4°F). After reconstitution, refrigerate at 2–8°C and use within 30 days.
