Survodutide (10 mg Vial) dosage and protocol

Survodutide (BI 456906) is a dual glucagon/GLP-1 receptor agonist developed by Boehringer Ingelheim. As a glucagon receptor agonist it increases energy expenditure and fat oxidation, while its GLP-1 activity reduces appetite and improves insulin sensitivity. Research focuses on obesity, NASH/MASH, type 2 diabetes, and metabolic syndrome with potent weight loss effects observed in clinical trials.

  • Vial size: 10 mg
  • Reconstitution: 2 mL bacteriostatic water
  • Concentration: 5 mg/mL
  • Administration: subcutaneous

Research areas

  • Weight Loss
  • Metabolic Syndrome
  • NASH/MASH
  • Type 2 Diabetes
  • Appetite Suppression
  • Energy Expenditure

Quick start

  • Reconstitute: Add 2.0mL bacteriostatic water → 5mg/mL concentration
  • Typical starting dose: 0.3mg weekly; titrate up slowly
  • Storage: Lyophilized at −20°C; reconstituted refrigerated at 2–8°C; use within 4 weeks

How it works

Survodutide is a dual glucagon/GLP-1 receptor co-agonist. GLP-1 receptor activation reduces appetite, slows gastric emptying, and improves insulin secretion. Glucagon receptor activation increases hepatic fat oxidation, thermogenesis, and energy expenditure. The dual mechanism creates complementary and additive weight loss effects exceeding those of GLP-1 monotherapy.

Reconstitution steps

  • Draw 2.0mL bacteriostatic water with a sterile syringe
  • Inject slowly down the vial wall; avoid foaming
  • Gently swirl/roll until dissolved (do not shake)
  • Label concentration (5mg/mL) and date; refrigerate at 2–8°C

Storage

Lyophilized: store at −20°C. After reconstitution, refrigerate at 2–8°C and use within 4 weeks.

Important notes

  • Research use only — in active clinical development
  • Titrate dose slowly to minimize GI adverse effects
  • Monitor blood glucose if used alongside insulin or other antidiabetic agents
  • Not studied for long-term safety in research settings outside clinical trials
  • Discard reconstituted vial if cloudy or contains particles

Supplies

  • Survodutide vial (10mg)
  • Bacteriostatic water (10mL)
  • Insulin syringes (U-100)
