How it works

Vilon is the synthetic dipeptide Lys-Glu, one of the shortest peptides in the Khavinson bioregulator series, designed to mimic activity attributed to thymus extracts. It is proposed to act at the level of chromatin, loosening condensed regions and reactivating genes that become silenced with age, especially in lymphocytes. It is also described as stimulating T-cell differentiation. Studies from the developing group reported that Vilon increased chromatin decondensation in lymphocytes from elderly people in culture, and in mice and rats was associated with longer lifespan and lower spontaneous tumour incidence in some experiments. Effects on immune markers and tissue regeneration have also been described. These findings come almost entirely from one research network and have not been independently confirmed in rigorous trials. There are no well-controlled human studies of Vilon. The record lists oral or sublingual dosing even though the administration method field says subcutaneous; the oral route is how the peptide is mostly sold, but whether a dipeptide survives digestion intact is uncertain.

Reconstitution steps

  • Typically provided in oral or sublingual form
  • Follow product-specific instructions

Storage

Store in cool, dark conditions. Follow manufacturer's storage recommendations.

Important notes

  • Thought to regulate gene expression related to aging and immune activity
  • May enhance chromatin structure and improve DNA repair mechanisms
  • Used in Russian gerontology protocols
  • Considered safe in Russian pharmacological use
